William Robert Bass, 69, of Jasper, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2020. William was born February 19, 1950 to Robert Bass and Jill (McCormick) Bass in Beaumont, TX. Growing up in Southeast Texas his entire life, William spent most of his life in Hemphill where he lovingly raised two children, and enjoyed his friends, family, and good times. A man of multiple talents and pursuits in life, William farmed as his children grew up- growing everything from corn and tomatoes to raising cattle, horses, pigs and even emus. Loving to be outside William shared his love of fishing first with his children and then later with his grandchildren. Family was a strong factor in William’s life and he never missed a Christmas in Hemphill and loved his family dearly. As William grew older some of his outlandish talents, such as being a one-man-band playing guitar, piano, drums, trumpet, harmonica and singing all at the same time, were replaced with tamer things such as enjoying his friends at Rayburn Healthcare and Rehabilitation and watching television shows like Gunsmoke and MASH. William will be truly missed by all those who knew him.
Left to treasure William’s memory is his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Bass of Jasper, TX; and his beloved grandchildren, Kaylie Elizabeth Blaylock, Keirstin Bass, Kamryn Bass, and Karlei Bass.
William is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bass and Jill Bass; his son, Jim Edward Bass; and his sister, Carolann Bass McGraw.
To honor William’s life, a Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Rayburn Healthcare and Rehabilitation, 144 Bulldog Ave., Jasper, TX 75951, at William’s request to accommodate his dear friends there.
