Truman Allison Sims was born September 27, 1949 in Amarillo, Texas to Thurman Sims and Lena Alice “Dyer” Sims. He passed away April 7, 2020 at Tyler County Hospital at the age of 70. He had been a resident of Woodville, Texas for over 30 years.
Truman, also known as Dad, Pops, and PawPaw, was raised in Muleshoe, Texas. After completing two years of college at Lee College in Baytown, Texas he went to work providing for his family as a boilermaker. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and a good old western movie starring John Wayne. He was a funny and incredibly patient man who spoiled his grandchildren rotten. His grandson, Mason Sullivan, said his PawPaw was the best cook in the world and no one makes cheeseburgers or sausage cheese biscuits that taste near as good as his. Truman thought his grandchildren hung the moon and the feeling was mutual. He was loved very much by the family he leaves behind.
Truman was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Stanley Sims, Aubrey Sims, Joe Sims, Geraldean Martin, and Joyce Dunham.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 35 years, Donna Sims, his children: daughters Olivia Pierce and husband Brad of Lubbock, Texas, Leslie Smith of Lubbock, Texas, Donna Jean Sullivan of Jasper, Texas, and son Jim Edward Sullivan and wife Virgie of Colmesneil, Texas, Grandchildren: Allen Sims, Justin Pierce, Daniel Smith, Morgen Smith, Claira Allen, Lily Allen, and Mason Sullivan, Siblings: Brenda Lackey and husband Walter, Delilah Weeks and husband Rodney, and Sandra Ware, 8 great-children, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
