Todd Maahs Obituary

Todd Christopher Maahs, age 67, passed away on December 8, 2019. He was born in Dallas, TX on July 14, 1952.

Kindhearted and even-tempered, Todd dealt with most things in life without getting upset. The struggles that he encountered produced within him a strength of character and committed heart. Compassionate about the human condition, Todd touched many lives, the lives of many that his inner awareness allowed him to guide, encourage, and support. After overcoming his struggles with sobriety in his younger years, Todd passionately involved himself in Alcoholics Anonymous, promoting the original system that had help him through his own valleys. Once he found temperance, it changed his life, and he was determined to help others follow the same path. Todd had a willingness to help others in any capacity, no matter the need. Growing up in Dallas, he would spend much of his life there, and successfully build his longtime painting and remodeling business, Maahs Painting and Contracting. After deciding on retirement, he found Jasper, feeling in his heart that God had brought him there. An avid fisherman and outdoors lover, he settled into his property that contained his own private lake. On January 1, 2014, he spent his first date, and New Years’, with Nicki and her family. He fell in love that night, with her, her daughter, and granddaughters, quickly becoming an integral member of their family. Todd and Nicki spent the next 6 years together at their home in Jasper, with their 4 dogs, a cat, and some turtles. Culinarily inclined, he loved many foods: a steak and baked potato; various sweets, from red velvet cake to Werther’s Originals, even often including skittles on his plate at meals; and as a huge barbecue sauce fan, making sure it was included in most meals. A proud motorcycle enthusiast, he owned three that he could often be found working on. Todd’s life and memory will forever be cherished by the loved ones, dear friends, and needful hearts that he touched while on this Earth.

Left to honor his memory is his loving wife of 6 years, Nicki Findley; his mother, Adeline; his favorite aunt, Mike Hull Dyes; sons; brother, Mike Maahs; stepbrother, Tommy Maahs; step-daughter, Carolyn McAuley of Nacogdoches, TX; step-grandchildren, Emily Creel and Lily Creel; and many extended family and countless

friends that were counted by Todd as family.

Preceding Todd in death was his father.
