Mary Boyett Obituary

Mrs. Mary Ruth Dunman Boyett, 85, of Jasper, was born on November 23, 1935 and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, September 16, 2021. Originally from St. Augustine, Mary was a southern woman at heart, loving her family above all. Mary was married to Wallace Dunman for 33 years and had 6 children together. After loosing Wallace, Mary was lucky enough to find one more true love in Norman Boyett who shared another 22 years of Mary’s life before he too preceded her in death. Family was the center of who Mary was, spending most of her life caring first for her children and then always loving on and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This tough and strong woman was truly the best mom ever, loving and loyal, selflessly giving of herself again and again over the years. Mary loved to cook and was always willing to feed anyone in her home. Mary experienced so much in her life, motherhood, square dancing, watching boat races and seeing car shows put on by the local car club, many Christmases with Hallmark ornaments for all and so many memories as Grandma too. Her life was full and beautiful, and her angelic smile will watch over all those she leaves behind.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Diane Powers of Jasper; her sons, Don Dunman, Terry Dunman, Daniel Dunman and wife Amy, all of Jasper; her grandchildren: Dalton Dunman and wife Keligh, Marshall Dunman, and Ethan Dunman all of Jasper, Mary Mahar and husband Bobby of Wyoming, Crissy Pickett, Terry Dunman, Bradley Dunman, and Amanda Jacks all of Shreveport, LA; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and extended family members.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Alson and Ethel (Robinson) Marshall; her first husband Wallace Dunman; and her second husband Norman Boyett; her sons, Gene Dunman and Brian Dunman; and her grandson Scott Pickett.

To honor Mary’s life, the family will have a time of visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Forest Oaks Funeral Home (601 W. Gibson, Jasper, TX 75951). Mary will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper immediately following the funeral services.
