Mr. Johnny Dalton Miller, 87, of Brookland, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022. He was Born in the town of Browndell, in Jasper County, Texas to parents, Pearl and Artie Miller, but was raised by his grandparents, Livia and Lewis Cooper.
He Lived his whole life in Jasper County. By trade he was a carpenter, and he served as staff sergeant in the U.S. Army while stationed in Alaska. He received an honorable discharge in 1958, and upon returning home he worked for Brown and Root, and Temple until his retirement at age 55. He consistently put his children first; family was his life. He was an honorable man, and never told a lie. He never let a debt go unpaid or a promise be broken.
Dalton was preceded in death by brothers Eddie Gene Coleson, Jackie Coleson, Bobby Coleson and one sister, Patricia Bruni, and a granddaughter Chrystal Willis.
He is survived by his wife, June (Widener) Miller, whom he married on June 26, 1960, and by three children, daughter Sherrie (Mika Markovich) of Pineland, and sons John Kent Miller (Frances Alcorn) of Jefferson, and Jimmy Dalton Miller (Kim) of Pineland, two brothers, J.C. Coleson (Carolyn) of Kirbyville, Lewis (Kilroy) Miller (Judy) of Dallas and one sister Betty Jones of Kirbyville, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous other friends and family.
Johnny will be laid to rest at North Baptist Cemetery, Hwy 96 N Jasper, TX 75951, on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
