JoAnn Cox
1941 - 2019
JoAnn Henson Cox, age 77, passed beyond the veil on Saturday, August 3, 2019. She was born on December 23, 1941 to James Ray Henson and Mary Beatrice Carrico Henson.
An unconditional giver, steadfast Believer and passionate mother, JoAnn lived her life for others. No matter the circumstances or the situation, forgiveness flowed through her, accompanied by her willingness to sacrifice and happily give away anything that she had to those she loved, even her last $20.00 at times. JoAnn loved her family, and her children felt that love, each knowing they were the beneficiaries of a special connection with their mother and nothing would ever break that. She truly loved her four children equally, and later in life when the Lord blessed her with an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of them felt the equality of her selflessly expressed love. Talentedly pursuing many things in life, she seemed to excel in anything she did; from her twenty, entrepreneurial years in Cosmetology to her undeniable carpentry skills, JoAnn wanted to do her best, even if she did it to help others. Sports always had a special place in her heart: starting with her playing basketball in a skirt during high school; turning into an ardent fan of the Dallas Cowboys, learning many details about the players positions and names, and supporting the Jasper High School sports; and using her skills as a seamstress to make vests for the Jasper Rodeo and outfits for the local sports cheerleaders. A gifted singer, she always had a love for music that accompanied her amazing voice. A member of Believers’ Fellowship Tabernacle, JoAnn believed in the Message given by God through Bro. William Branham, and this shaped every aspect of her faith and daily walk. She passed into her inheritance with the love and affection of her loved ones, opening her eyes on the other side to be greeted by her Heavenly family. As they carry the memory of this special, faithful lady in their hearts, JoAnn’s loved ones will miss her dearly, until the day appointed that they see her again.
Left to honor her memory are her daughters, Debbie Moore and husband, Travis, of Jasper, TX and Lynne Luckey of Newton, TX; sons, Kenneth Brown of Jasper, TX and James Brown and wife, Kayla, of Jasper, TX; sister, Pansy Stowell; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles Henson and Wayne Henson; and sisters, Emma Fox and Beth Scoggins.
Visitation with family and friends will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 601 W. Gibson St., Jasper, TX 75951. JoAnn’s life honoring service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019, also at the funeral home, with Bro. Matthew Bray officiating and burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, TX.
