Edith Denmon Obituary

Edith Mae Denmon

1931 - 2019

Edith Mae Blaylock Denmon, age 88, entered the kingdom of Heaven on December 15, 2019. She was born on April 11, 1931 in Beaumont, TX to Baxter and Ernie Victoria Graham Blaylock.

Hidden in Biblical pages are precious gems, oft quoted prescriptions to mold a character and shape a heart; on rare and special occasion, a humble soul appears on this Earth that breathes life into certain passages. When her family and friends think of Proverbs 31: 10-31, they think of Edith: her steadfast love, rare strength, and unconditional love. A mother, she was every bit of a mother, raising her three children and setting an example they could measure their lives by. Her life was devoted to caring for her children, and when the Lord blessed her with them abundantly, her grandchildren and their generations. She lived to see five of those generations, and her abundant love found a home in each of their hearts. Faith was the principal theme of her life, and she devotedly attended church after her salvation in her teenage years. Edith was funny; her sense of humor was quickly detected by those she met and experienced by her family, the focus of many innocent pranks and practical jokes. Many friends and family received the benefit of Edith’s crafty nature and artistic skill. She gifted many centerpieces over the years, sold her wreaths and creations at various craft shows, and provided many decorative displays for the holiday seasons. An excellent cook, if it was not fried, it probably was not produced in her kitchen, though she would make an exception in her delicious cakes and candy. Her cooking habits reflected her palate, just about eating fried chicken every chance she could, often with greens, cornbread, and tomatoes. “Nanny” read to each of her grandchildren a story, “I’ll Love You Forever, I’ll Like You for Always”, that in its simplicity summed how she felt. No matter what life held for her loved ones, Edith, a truly virtuous woman, loved unconditionally and without pretense. Her memory will forever be missed and cherished.

Left to honor her memory are her sons, Leonard Robinson and wife, Carol, of Jasper, TX and Allen Denmon and wife, Theresa, of Kirbyville, TX; daughters, Barbara Robinson of Jasper, TX, Beverly Wade of Waller, TX, and Belinda Arroyo of Call, TX; brother, Garland Blaylock and wife, Lynda, of Kountze, TX; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; her beloved dog, Peanut; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Edith is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Denmon; her parents; daughter, Sharon Sanford; sister, Emma Jean Burns; grandson, Christopher Robinson; and son-in-law, Mitchell Wade.
