Douglas Brown Obituary

Mr. Douglas Dalton Brown, 81, of Jasper, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Douglas was born on September 24, 1939 in Sour Lake to Daniel and Floy Brown. Growing up in a large family, one of eight children, Douglas learned at a young age the true meaning and value of family- a lesson that he would carry with him throughout his entire life. Douglas met and married the love of his life, Jo Evelyn more than 60 years ago; together they built a family and a life full of love. Douglas and Jo Evelyn has two children, Douglas Jr. and Donna, and Douglas quickly began to pass down the same value and love of family that has been instilled in him to his children. Douglas was truly the backbone of his family and an encourager to all those around him; regardless of the circumstances or situation, he was always quick to remind everyone that “everything was going to be alright”.  A loving husband, devoted father and loving grandfather, Douglas definitely set a great example of a good man for those around him. A hard worker and constant provider for his family, Douglas was a pipefitter, welder and all-around fixer spending his entire career working in the Golden Triangle and parts of Louisiana in the plants. You might think spending so time outside working would have driven Douglas inside during his time off but honestly, he loved any excuse to be outside. From fishing and hunting to working in his garden and yard, Douglas loved everything about the beauty of God’s blessing that could be seen outside. A man of God, Douglas was grateful and proud to know the Lord and enjoyed his gospel music too! This loving and uplifting man will be deeply missed by all those who knew him and his legacy of family and faith will live on for generations to come.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Jo Evelyn Brown; his children, Douglas Dalton Brown Jr. and fiancée Kristy Lewis, and Donna D’Ann Garner and husband Alpha Garner; his sisters, Betsy Brown and Fannie Brown; his brother, Ruben Brown; his grandchildren, Jason Brown and wife Marsha, Benjamin Brown and wife Rachel, Daniel Brown and wife Shadai, Hannah Taylor and husband Austin, Patrick Mease, Kalan Guillory and wife Shannon, and Deric Kantz; his great-grandchildren, Cameron, Logan, Evelyn, Julia, Bannon, Haze, Liam, Olivia, O’Sirus, Bonnie, William, Robin, and Anna.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Sullivan Brown and Floy Blake Brown; his 3 brothers, and sister.
