Bobbie Jo Williams McMurry Housman
1929 - 2020
Bobbie Jo Housman, age 90, passed away on June 7, 2020. She was born on December 20, 1929 to Ty and Hattie Maselle Williams.
The strength of her character was only rivaled by the love that she had for her family. Bobbie was there for those that needed her most. No matter the circumstances nor the situation, she faithfully labored and generously devoted herself to her children and grandchildren. Her giving nature extended unrestrained to strangers, friends, and extended family, often buying clothes, food, and fulfilling needs she observed. Bobbie was blessed with 6 natural children: raising them, investing her heart into them, and working hard to provide for them in so many capacities. God blessed her with a foster daughter, Sandra, and Bobbie became her true mom. They clicked right away, developed a personal language understood only by them, and spent countless hours together until Sandra’s death. “Mamaw” was a proud grandmother and bragged often about her grandchildren, making each of them feel as if they were her favorite. She was talented beyond measure, expressing her gift and passions into crafts, pottery, paintings, and many other hobbies. Bobbie was a bit of an accomplished garage selling aficionado; if she saw a yard sign, she would not miss the opportunity, regardless of any present companions, to investigate it for any finds. Loving and kind, Bobbie’s tendency to go the extra mile left an impact on so many, and though she is gone, she remains in the hearts and on the minds of all that loved her.
Left to honor her memory are her sons, Ron McMurry and wife, Joanna, of Jasper, TX and James David McMurry of Buna, TX; daughters, Judy Hutchinson of Jewitt, TX, Sue Davenport and husband, Rich, of Kirbyville, TX, Debra Zugaro and husband, Zack, of Cullman, AL; 19 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended family, friends and loved ones.
Preceding Bobbie in death are her parents; son, Terry McMurry; and daughter, Sandra Lee Brown.
Bobbie’s life honoring funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., at Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 601 W. Gibson St., Jasper, TX 75951, with burial to follow at Homer Cemetery, Jasper, TX.
