1956 - 2019

Susan Diane Rachal, age 62, passed away on March 17, 2019. Susan was born on April 22, 1956 to Kenneth Emery Dubose and Paula Fern Harvey Dubose in Beaumont, TX.

Unselfish and loving, Susan was always happy. With a selfless heart, she would do anything for anyone, even if it took away from her needs. She had a laugh that made others laugh, often finding humor and smiles in any situation. A devoted Christian, she had no affiliation other than to her faith in the Lord and truly loved all churches; in their youth, she visited every church in Jasper with her children. Her passion was for gospel music, but really, she loved any music. Throughout the years, she sang and played the piano in church and loved supporting her brother Lynn, a gospel music singer. “Mama Sue”, as she was called by one of her son’s best friends, welcomed many of her children’s friends in her home over the years; Susan was a mother to all. She loved her grandchildren, babysitting them for many years and making sure to keep up to date on their favorite cartoons; they loved spending time with “Mami”. Fashionable in her own way, she loved clothes and would buy whatever caught her eye. Her love flowed so freely from her heart to her loved ones; she would repeat “I love you”, as a constant and simple reminder for them. She often wondered if they would tire of hearing it, but they never did. As they face the days ahead without her, it is with the warm, comforting memory of Susan's simple expression, "I love you".

Left to honor her memory is her daughter, Traci Zavala and husband, Daniel, of Jasper, TX; son, Benjamin Perego and wife, Melissa, of Jasper, TX; brothers, K. E. Dubose and wife, Donna, of Houston, TX, Harvey Lynn Dubose and wife, Diane, of Saratoga, TX; sisters, Cheral Freeman of Silsbee, TX, Lindy Ruckel of Brookland, TX and Maria Gray of Jasper, TX; grandchildren, Natalia Johnson and husband, Ruston, Daniel (Bubba) Zavala, Noelani Zavala, Annabelle Perego and Owen Perego; great-grandchild, Emberlee Jo Johnson (due to arrive July 2019); numerous step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jesse Perego, of Jasper, TX; second husband, David Rachal, of Broaddus; and fiancé, W.L. Hall.

A graveside committal service will be Thursday, March 28th, 2019 at 5:00 p.m at Little Hope Cemetery in Jasper, TX. Susan's celebration of life for friends and family will be on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Vision Outreach in Bleakwood, TX, followed by a gathering for refreshment at the home of Matt and Crystal DuBose, 3447 County Road 4025, Newton, TX 75966.
