Harold Hughes

Mr. Harold Hughes passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018, at his residence near Jasper, Texas at the age of 93.

He was born May 27, 1924, in Bismarck, Arkansas, to parents James Wylie Hughes and Ophie Moore Hughes. A former longtime resident of Beaumont, Mr. Hughes has lived in Jasper County for the past several years after retiring from Borden's as a route supervisor. He proudly served his country--being a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and life member of Jasper VFW Post.

Mr. Hughes had a great love of outdoors as an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working around his place and tending the cattle. 

His survivors include his wife, Jean Hughes, to whom he was married on January 31, 1947; sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda Hughes and Stanley Hughes, all of Jasper; grandchildren, Chad Hughes, Andy Hughes, and Leslie Schwem; great-grandchildren, Taylor Hughes, Emily Hughes, Lacey Hughes, and Rocky Hughes; and great-great-granddaughter, Juliet Hughes.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Todd Hughes, along with his parents and siblings.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Forest Oaks Funeral Home.

A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at West Oaks Cemetery, located on Hwy. 63 West, with Bro. Andy Jackson officiating.
