Welcome to the memorial page for

Domitilo Martinez

May 12, 1954 ~ September 24, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Domitilo “Tito” Martinez, aged 63, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 12, 1954, to Luis Martinez and Aurelia Gonzalez in San Jose De Llanetes, Zacatecas, Mexico. He was a resident of the Jasper and surrounding area for over 39 years.

Tito earned his living in the lumber industry, working there for many years in many roles, most recently as a fork lift operator for Georgia-Pacific. Though he was a man of few words, his actions continually proved him to be the definition of a hardworking man and loving father. He dedicated his life to providing for his family, often sacrificing his health and personal well-being. Through his actions, he taught his children and grandchildren about the fruits of sacrifice, the value of a strong work ethic, and of the satisfaction to be had in making a name for oneself.

Watching sports were one of Tito's favorite things. He was a regular at all his grandchildren's sporting events. Rain or shine, you could always count on seeing him there, cheering. When not on the sidelines, you could find him at home with his family enjoying the latest pay-per-view boxing match, a Mexican National Team soccer game, or "El Chavo del 8", his favorite tv show.

When not enjoying time with his family, you could count on finding Tito outside, working on various projects, meticulously tending his yard, or helping perfect his wife’s rose garden.

Regardless of how he spent his time, Tito always had a bottle of Coca-Cola and a pack of chewing bubble gum nearby. Both of which always seemed in short supply, because of his grandchildren's sticky fingers and knack for finding his secret stashes.

In his later years, though Tito’s illness affected his speech and mobility, it did nothing to hinder his will or ability to show love and affection to his family.

Tito’s loving and caring ways will be greatly missed by his loved ones and all those who knew him. His legacy will carry on in his six children, eighteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Left to honor Tito's memory are: his loving wife of 44 years, Leopoldina Martinez of Jasper, TX; his sons and daughter-in-law, Luis Martinez of Houston, TX, Steven Martinez and his wife, Megean, of Jasper, TX, and  Anthony Martinez of Houston, TX; his daughters and sons-in-law, Xochilt Campos and husband, Honorio, of Jasper, TX, Maria Flores and husband, Braulio, Jasper, TX, and Patricia Martinez and Scott Jansen of Jasper, TX; step daughter, Maria Escalante and husband, Leoncio, of Jasper, TX; brothers, Juan Martinez of Mexico and Luis Martinez of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Guadalupe Martinez of Mexico; 18 adored grandchildren and two beloved great grandchildren.
