Bennie Ray Mathews

Mr. Bennie Ray Mathews passed away at the age of 62 on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Bennie was born on October 23, 1955 to Elmer and Nelda Mathews in Dallas, Texas.

Bennie graduated from Jasper High School in 1974 and went on to the University of Houston where he got an Associates Degree. He worked as an electrician for many years. He was a great man and loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Bennie is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Nelda Mathews. 

Left to honor his memory is his partner of over 25 years, Helen Massey; his daughters, Robbie Lewis and husband Jimmy of Walnut Grove, MS, Kim Mathews of Rochester, NY, and Andrea Shaw of Jasper, Texas; his sons, Steven Massey and wife Keisha of Jasper, TX, Bennie Mathews, Jr. and wife Amandi of Morgan City, LA, Brandon Mathews and wife Randalynn of Burkeville, TX, Bryant Mathews and wife Leah of Clinton, OK, Brent Mathews and wife Jeanette of Rome, PA, and Blake Mathews and wife Kirsten of Jasper, TX; 26 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous friends.

The family will receive friends and family on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Forest Oaks Chapel in Jasper. A private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations towards the final expenses for Mr. Mathews. Donations may be made by contacting Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
