Thomas "Tom" Moncus

Thomas Giddeon Moncus, age 82, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017. He was born November 21, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas to Joseph and Katy Moncus. He had one sister, Rita Sutherland. They lived in San Antonio where he attended an all boys Catholic school. Once he finished school he joined the Air Force and served our country for 20 years. Once he got out of the service is when he met his loving wife of 40 years, Norita. Tom started work for the oil field, Dress Atlas for 17 years. When he retired from the oil field he and Norita moved to Jasper in 1990. Tom enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and boat races. Tom also loved antique cars, he loved working on them as well. He had a 1962 T-Bird that was his pride and joy. Every year Tom would put his T-Bird in the antique car show and support hospice. Tom was always doing something, either playing on his computer, rebuilding a car or rebuilding anything he could get his hands on. Tom never met a stranger, in fact he would just go up to a person and strike up a conversation. When they would go camping, once he got the motorhome set up and things were all good at the camp site, off he went to see who all was at the park. He would come back with all kinds of stories or people he met. 

Tom had 3 daughters from a previous marriage, Cindy Lockhart and husband Jeff, Sandy Westbrook and Bonny Williams and husband, Gary, and he gained 3 step-children when he married Norita, Lorretta Anderson, Robert Owen and wife Teri, and Michael Owen. Tom had 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

If you ever met Tom, you would never forget him, he had a sense of humor that was one of a kind. He was 82 years old and he lived life to the fullest. He loved Norita and always will, when he left this world he made sure that she was taken care of. Until we see you again Papa, you will be our guardian angel.

Preceding Tom in death are his parents, Step-Daughter Loretta Anderson and Step-Son Michael Owen.

Visitation with family and friends will be Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Forest Oaks Funeral  Home, 601 W. Gibson, Jasper, Texas. Tom's life honoring blessing service will be Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Celebrated by Fr. Ron Foshage.

Serving as pallbearers are Brad Walkoviak, Johnny Mendosa, Curt Smith, Collin White, Tracy Horn, and Frank Alex.
