Richard L. Coons

Mr. Richard Leroy Coons passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at his residence near Jasper, Texas, at the age of 70.

He was born Jan. 12, 1948, in Galveston, Texas, to parents Marjorie Nell (Booth) and William Tyler Coons. Richard had lived in the Jasper area for several years where he had worked as a carpenter in the home building industry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Richard had a great love for outdoor activities, especially ocean fishing.

His survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn (Shaw) Coons of Jasper, Texas; sons, Daniel Duane Coons of Jasper, Texas, and Richard Swindale of Galveston, Texas; a brother, Lou Crabb; sisters, Anne Cobb and Libby Belaham; and 11 nieces and nephews.

Life honoring services for Mr. Coons will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, located at 6038 U.S. Hwy. 96 South in Jasper, Texas. Interment will follow at Zion Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Haas, Kurt Haas, Darrell Haas, Darrell Martindale, Jowayne Mock, and Marcus Sims.
