Jerry R. King

Jerry R. King, age 79, of Spurger, TX, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017. She was born to Harold Renfro and Minnie Havard Duff on May 18, 1938 in Lufkin, TX.

Jerry was a loving, friendly person, who never met a stranger. If she could find someone to talk to she would become their friend very quickly. This was never more true than when she, at 13 years old living in Beaumont, TX, told her mother that she was going to marry a handsome, young man she saw. She would spend the next 56 years married to the love of her life, Phillip “Pete” King. They did everything together. Hunting and fishing with Pete was her favorite, going anywhere they could find water. They attended church at River Acres Full Gospel Church for several years. After Pete retired, they spent as much time as they could at Martin Dies, Jr. State Park in their travel trailer. They would stay as long as they could, and when it was time to move, they would just choose a different spot close by to park the trailer. After a loving marriage, she lost her husband and companion. She continued to share her love with her many grandchildren, making her own jewelry and crocheting gifts as often as she could. Jerry loved her family the most and will be dearly missed by all.

Left to honor her memory are daughters, Sheila Lavern Evans and husband, Ricky, of Mauriceville, TX, Phylis Lourve Moncrief of Lufkin, TX, and Sharon Marie Langley of Evadale, TX; sons, Lonnie Edward King and wife, Judy, of Magnolia Springs, TX, Maion Lee King of Jasper, TX, Lindell “Gene” King and wife, Juanita, of Warren, TX, Claude Mattingly King and wife, Gloria, of Spurger, TX, and Larry Paul King and wife, Dora, of Jasper, TX; brother, Harold Vechel Renfro of Lufkin, TX; brother-in-law, William King of Silsbee, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Preceding Jerry in death are her loving husband; her parents; and son-in-law, Clennon Moncrief.

Visitation with family and friends will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Forest Oaks Funeral Home at 601 W. Gibson St. Jasper, TX. Jerry’s life honoring service will follow on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., also at Forest Oaks, with Bro. Tommy Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at Davis Cemetery in Jasper, TX.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Loftin, Jr., Kenneth Harrell, Stephen Kelley, Karry Pitman, Terry Carter, and Heath Renfro. Honorary pallbearers will be William King, Ricky Evans Jr., Phylis Moncrief and Sharon Langley.

Special thanks go to daughter-in-law, Gloria King, who cared for her and her husband, Pete, all these years.
