G.P. "PERK" MAY

October 8, 1931 ~ November 1, 2013 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Mr. Gerald Perkins (Perk) May age 82 died Friday Nov. 1st at his home in Jasper. Mr. May was born and raised in the little community of Aldridge, Texas on the Neches River. He was the youngest of eleven children who were all born in a small room of their old house which was built in 1852. His ancestors were early settlers of Jasper County and participants in the war of Texas Independence. Perk Graduated from Jasper High School in 1949 and soon afterward he began his career with Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. which he continued for 38 years until his retirement in 1988. He was always at his happiest tending to his cows. He was baptized into Christ at the age of 58. He was a member of the Dewitt-Clinton Masonic lodge #29 in Jasper. He is survived by his wife Linda May of Jasper, son Gerald Keith May and his wife Kimberly of Mocksville, North Carolina, daughter Lisa Batson and her husband Kris of Jasper, Granddaughter Lindsey Batson of Beaumont Grandson Dustin Batson of Jasper as well as numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Callie May, six brothers and four sisters.
There will be a visitation from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at Forest Oaks Funeral Home with a Funeral service 11:00 AM Monday. Mr. Bobby South and Mr. Donny Courtney will officiate. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Dustin Batson, Glenn Jackson, Harry Mason, Gilmer Abel, Mike Breaux & James Tassin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Fournet, Bobby McLemore and John L. Lowery.
Family has requested memorials to Lakes area hospice and Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort 410 Allied Dr. Nashville, TN 37211
